Ronansprey - THE PAST

We have been involved with Rough Collies since 1980 - when we purchased our first lovely dog "Keddie -". He was based on Arcot breeding and was to remain our loyal and loving companion for 13 years.

We next bought a bitch by Aberhill Superman X Krissendale Krissy Girl. - "Sweet Lady of Ronansprey". Beautie went on to get her stud book number and was winner of many B.O.B's - often taking Best Veteran when she was well into double figures. When mated back to her grand father -Ch. Arranbrook Mr. Chips of Aberhill - she gave us Ronansprey Roly Poly (so named because she rolled from the top to the bottom of the stairs , got up and just wagged her tail - at age 4 weeks!!!!!).

She was mated to the wonderful Ch. Lynway Sandknocker. From this litter we kept a dog (Ronansprey Springsteen J.W. - Bruce to his friends) and Ronansprey Rosalita - "Sherry".

"Bruce" achieved 46 1st prizes and many B.O.B.'s . He was a consistent winner at Ch. Show level and was often in the final line up. We withdrew him from competition at 6 years of age and he died at age 13.

Ronansprey Rosalita (Sherry) also had many show successes. The most notable being B.I.S. at our own collie club - N.D.C.C.

Wardette Ebony Eyes at Ronansprey was bought from Pat & John Stickler at 10 months. She received 2 res. C.C.'s and countless B.O.B's. She won open & Veteran classes up to the venerable age of 10. Very sadly missed.

Our lovely Lisa - Amalie Amarylis at Ronansprey (g/daughter of L. Sandknocker's famous son L.Seldom Sober) was always placed at both Open and Championship shows - winning Post Grad. Bitch under Mrs C. Black (Chrisarion) at Ayr Ch. Sh. She retired to life as a settee dog.

Post Graduate (17)

1 Brand's A. Amarylis at R.

Very elegant shaded s/w who immediately appealed for her superb construction & femininity, lovely clean balanced head with sweet eye & expression. Excellent lay of shoulder & strong hindquarters, holding her topline at all times.

Below is a picture of Sunny (Lasheen Sunshine at Ronansprey), D. O. B.  9/9/98. He was a handful to show but when he did he, won well.

As a puppy he looked like this.

Quote from Mrs. S. Burditt, Tweedmouth Open Show:

"Pleasing outline, wedged-head dark almond eye, good chest, firm back, tail carried low, in good coat, moved ably." B.O.B.
